You’re a thinking creature, but strangely not always logical. Here are 5 types of reasoning. Which type are you? And where it’ll lead you.

5 types of reasoning. Your life depends on your choice.

Your choice among the 5 types of reasoning is crucial. Let’s examine them and see which one leads to life, real abundant life, ultimately, with all the benefits. Are you going to be among the few who make the right choice today?
(Mind-Body Problem Solved, Chapter 19 – Table of Contents)

We’re discussing the divine essence, the breath (neshama) of life, which God blew into the nostrils of the first dust human He created in Genesis 2:7. Thanks to God’s neshama conferred on each human we possess His image. This image is ingrained and innate, we are all automatically born with these real characteristics. They are our consciousness and, in fact, define what it is to be human. Without neshama, consciousness, the image of God, we would act like an animal.

The example of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4 clearly displays the results of having and not having neshama. After regaining his mental senses, his neshama, his consciousness, the King declares “At the same time my reason (H4486) returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned to me; and my counsellors and my lords sought to me;” (Dan. 4:36). For seven years he lost the capacity to reason; he had no understanding, the same translation as bain (H995) which humans receive via the neshama (Job 32:8).

Thanks to the neshama, Adam, Eve, Nebuchadnezzar, you, and I all possess consciousness which confers on us the same five attributes. Like God, but on a human level, first, we have a purpose for life. Second, we have a human mode of functioning. Third and fourth, all humans have the capacity to develop close (family) and far (friends) social relationships and rulership over their specific environment and indeed, Earth itself. The fifth attribute of neshama, the most important, is reasoning. our mental capacities.

Humans alone are born with this innate cognitive ability to think and figure out, extrapolate, deduce, perceive, solve, gather information, analyze, conclude, and decide. Only because we, in the image of God, can reason. From our earliest age, we are taught HOW to reason according to the 5 types of reasoning and examples, but we all come into this world with the power to reason. Nobody explains where this comes from. Mystery solved, from the neshama, the consciousness with which each one of us is endowed.

There are 5 types of reasoning, four very well-known, recognizable methods which The Explanation expounded on extensively in Part 5 of Audit of Humankind: Observation, Science, Philosophy, and Religion. To be open, I’ve always had difficulty naming the first of the five types of reasoning. We observe with our five senses sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch but then we analyze and decide. One way is intuition, “the power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference. b: immediate apprehension or cognition” (Webster Dictionary). I will associate intuition as one of the end results of observation.

Here are the 5 types of reasoning with a Biblical example of human intuition.

1. Observation and Intuition

  • Observation, The First Way to Human Reasoning (5.3)
Observation is the first, and major, way human beings gather information. From observation, hopefully, correct facts are established. We start by sourcing facts. Like fake news, we can have fake of distorted facts. Our source AND the interpretation of what we observe must be reliable.

In the Bible, we have one of the clearest examples of reasoning with Eve. She was given both true facts by God and fed fake facts by the Serpent. Then she made a fatally wrong decision based on intuition.

Genesis 3:2-6

2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die (True fact, she quotes the Source).

4 And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die (Sam’s comment: fake news, notice the source):

5 For God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil (Sam’s comment: fake news, what propaganda).

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband with her; and he did eat.

Eve saw; she observed, listened to the fake news, and intuitively made a decision. A terribly wrong one. She was deceived (1 Timothy 2:14), a victim of her intuition.

How many of us read the Source, the Bible, even quote what God said (like Eve) and then intuitively decide what is right and wrong?

2. Philosophy

The second of the 5 types of reasoning.

Science

The third type of reasoning

Religion

The fourth of the 5 types of reasoning.

5. Theology

The vast majority frown on the fifth of the 5 types of reasoning in ethics, science, and other fields.

The majority say the Bible is not adapted to the 21st-century; myths and antiquated bedtime stories like Noah’s flood are foolish, they have nothing to offer in an era of technology and information. Science does all the searching for consciousness in every nook, cranny, and neuron of the body and comes up with no evidence yet they intuitively agree consciousness arises from the material world.

Moses foretold this problem “Beware, lest your hearts be deceived and you turn away and serve other gods and worship them” (Deut. 11:16). intuitive thinking got Eve into deep trouble, and that dilemma continues to this day. That’s the reason the first 4 types of reasoning (other gods) cannot solve the mind-body and societal problems. The extent of human reasoning cannot reach into godly theology which sums it up with a principle from the time of Noah that describes our age (Matthew 24:37-39).

Genesis 6:5

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination (H3336) of the thoughts (H4284) of his heart was only evil continually.

This imagination results from the 4 types of reasoning which is the 5th characteristic of neshama, consciousness. Check the Biblical Hebrew below, both imagination and thoughts imply and are translated by purpose which is the 1st characteristic of neshama, consciousness. Sound theology reveals humans are using their dual human nature (Tree of Good and Evil) to choose evil continually. as Genesis 6:5 states.

Humankind is confined to human types of reasoning. That is the cause of the woes and anxiety of human society. Our imagination runs wild with human opinions, speculations, and solutions and we bear the fruit of the seed we’ve sown. Human consciousness reasons wrongly.

Imagination (H3336) and thoughts (H4284) can bear thorns or fruit depending on whether they are human or godly. We have the choice, that’s our dual nature, the first characteristic of how humans function.

H3336

יֵצֶר yêtser yay’-tser; from H3335 (יָצַר); a form; figuratively, conception (i.e. purpose):

KJV – frame, thing framed, imagination, mind, work.

H4284

מַחֲשָׁבָה machăshâbâh makh-ash-aw-baw’; or מַחֲשֶׁבֶת; from H2803 (חָשַׁב); a contrivance, i.e. (concretely) a texture, machine, or (abstractly) intention, plan (whether bad, a plot; or good, advice):

KJV – cunning (work), curious work, device(-sed), imagination, invented, means, purpose, thought.

Theological reasoning should be the basis of real education. Please be careful with what I’m saying here. Not religion (that’s the 4th of the 5 types of reasoning and it’s incorrect) but respect for God and His wisdom as Proverbs tells us.

Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding (H998 from H995).

Knowledge of the holy is proper theology, the 5th of the 5 types of reasoning. That’s true understanding NOT from the Tree of Good… but from the Tree of Life. Yes, today we have access to God’s way, but only very few follow the godly type of reasoning, theology. On the other hand, the Bible talks about human construction of their multiple differing worldviews based on the four types of reasoning: intuition, science, philosophy, and religion.

Isaiah 45:9, 29:15-16

9 Woe to him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What make you? or your work, He has no hands?

29:15 Woe to them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who sees us? and who knows us?

16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding? (H995).

Read those verses closely. Isa. 45:9 says let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of earth. It’s describing human potsherds’ bickering debates in politics, government, science, philosophy, and religion. Each person or author thinking they’re right, “be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh, (Ecclesiastes 12:12).” Above, Isaiah says ”their works are in the dark, they’ve turned things upside down.” The four authors mentioned in the last chapter, giving the rules of life, have no basis for the why, what, and how of consciousness, their reasoning is misguided and defective.

Whether people talk about or omit God, the bottom line is they’ve removed all trace of God from the very foundation of their worldview, God is just another one of those million pieces of facts and fiction, maybe a little more important, but certainly not the foundation. That’s the meaning of He has no hands in Isa. 45:9. We humans think we’re here with consciousness and there was no Creator!

Come to your senses. In Isa. 29:16, we must realize 100% He, God, has understanding (H995), He is neshama, the ultimate Consciousness, and foundation. He’s embedded a portion of His neshama in each one of us. That consciousness endows you and me with a purpose in life, human functions, social relationships, and reasoning powers. We must learn not to reason according to our imagination but according to the knowledge of the holy, the fitting one of the 5 types of reasoning.
