God put humans on Earth to learn socialization in a family relationship and rulership of Earth’s resources. Today, the family institution and the environment are in a free-fall plunge, causing untold sorrow. Are we going to stop this hemorrhage, turn it around, and heal the wound?
The Bible explains why we’re in this mess and reveals God’s plan to bring peace and prosperity to all humankind. This long-term endeavor revolves around one point: transforming everybody’s mind. Let’s discover that fascinating narrative via two cities, Jerusalem and Babylon, and three consecutive timeframes, 6000 years, 1000 years, and 100 years.

I want the God-Intended meaning of Scripture
We discussed the Serpent’s role. Remember, it’s a tool God uses to show us there are two distinct ways: God’s way and Satan’s way. These two life paths are symbolized throughout the Bible by light and dark, the Tree of Life and the Tree of Death. This chapter highlights God’s plan via Jerusalem and Babylon, the former belongs to God, the latter to the Serpent.
First Period: Satan’s Babylon, 6000 Years of Deception
The Bible story starts and ends in a specific location, God’s world-ruling headquarters. The four rivers issuing from its midst identify the Garden of Eden as the site of Jerusalem. “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads,” Genesis 4:10.
Compare this with Revelation 22:1-2, a description of New Jerusalem. “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb… and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare fruit and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations (the world).”
Our story starts in the Garden, where the Serpent twists Eve’s mind into deception.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving (G4105), and being deceived (G4105).
Revelation 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives (G4105) the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
The Serpent is the behind-the-scenes deceiver of the whole Earth, transferring it from Eden/Jerusalem to Babylon.
Note that this deception will wax worse and worse. Our post-modern, social media, fake news, AI, propaganda society fits that description to a tee. Let’s pinpoint the target: the mind. That’s where this dark, sly battle is taking place. it’s mind control at the most profound level unbeknown to them who are the objects of this morally bankrupt strategy. Adam and Eve’s degenerate minds were the reason God expelled them from the Jerusalem Garden into the outskirts of Eden.

Satan caused Adam and Eve’s makeover; they strayed and became wanderers. Remember that after murdering his brother, Cain was expelled from Eden into the land of Nod.
And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod (H5113), on the east of Eden.

Nod is the Land of Wandering and sorrow, East of Eden (i.e. Babylon). It is not just walking and exploring; it’s essentially figurative, meaning a wandering mind, a deceived mind. Once you’re out of the Garden and Eden itself, you’re roaming around in a quicksand minefield of conflicting hypotheses in science, philosophy, intuition, and religion. Later, Nimrod builds the Tower of Babel, the epitome of the Serpent who reached up to usurp God’s Throne. Then, about 600 BC, we find the remains of Israel, basically the tribes of Judah, Levi, and Benjamin, being taken into captivity, extracted from Jerusalem, and transplanted in the region of Babylon.
Babylon was a very rich and robust city that sat astride the Euphrates River about 600 BC. It was one of the wonders of antiquity; today, its ruins are about 80 km south of Bagdad, near the modern city of Al-Ḥillah in Iraq. Here are both the royalty and depravity of Babylon.
1 I will shew to you the judgment of the great whore that sits upon many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: (royal riches of incredible magnitude, but very depraved)
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Babylon is the Emperor, Kaiser, Ceasar, the mighty overlord, Satan misusing science, philosophy, intuition, and religion to plunge the world into abominations.
First Period: God’s Jerusalem of Firstborn
During this 6000-year timeframe, there are a few bright spots. Abraham, the father of the faithful whom God calls out of the East to return to Jerusalem. Then there’s Joseph, who ends up in Egypt, a Biblical parallel to Babylon. There’s Moses, who leads the tribes out, and Joshua, who again installs them in Eden (figuratively), the land of milk and honey. There’s King David, and especially the arrival of Jesus, His disciples, and the establishment of the Church, the Assembly of God.
22 But you are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn,
These are the small minority who, with God’s help, come out of Babylon, out of this world, and return to Jerusalem/Eden. This first period culminates with Christ’s Return and Armageddon, the Kings of the East (Babylon), and the entire world battling Christ for Jerusalem.
Second Period: 1000 Years of Godly Rule from Jerusalem
Babylon the whore is vanquished, and the Serpent is restrained in a pit, unable to deceive the nations for 1000 years (Rev. 20). It’s the elimination of all opposition to God.
8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.
16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem (Armageddon) shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Notice the receptive minds. These are people who know “the knowledge of God is the basis of wisdom, (Pro. 1:7.) They transform their minds.
This is the Millenial reign when all those prepared during the 6000 years wil reign as SPIRIT Kings, Queens, and Priests on EARTH (1 Corinthians 15:52-53). They will be the private teachers of the multitude of survivors of Armageddon, the end of the first period.
Much can be written about this period. Retain that it is the Government of God from Jerusalem, with God’s faithful teachers spreading His ways across the world. This second period reveals the positive results of applying God’s Jerusalem truth as opposed to the first 6000-year period of applying the Serpent’s Babylonian deception. The end results will be evident when comparing both periods.
Third Period: probably 100 years, the resurrection of all people who never heard God’s truth
Here’s where one of the most significant religious Babylonian deceptions is replaced by Jerusalsem’s truth. People who never knew God during the first 6000-year period are NOT lost. That would be unfair of a just and loving God. He gives everyone an equal chance to be called, transform their minds, accept Christ as Saviour, and prepare for their roles as Kings, Queens, and Priests.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
All the dead from the 6000-year first period come back to a healthy life in a Godly, Jerusalem world. They’ll be taught God’s ways and compare this Jerusalem society with their former Babylonian society. They’ll have time to grow spiritually and God will judge them according to their works after their resurrection when they’ll know God.
Babylon and all opposition will meet a definitive end, and New Jerusalem will reign. We can transform our minds now and prepare for a return to the Garden of Eden, the New Jerusalem.
