World Peace or the world in pieces. Two opposite results at the ends of the worldview rainbow. To which one are we headed?
World peace is the quest of all leadership. World peace, my way. We’ve discussed reasoning by observation, philosophy, science, and religion. All hold hope and advice but, given the present state of affairs, none has an ultimate clear-cut solution to reach this objective. Are we going to just throw up our arms and say, “oh well”?
(Audit of Humankind, Epilogue)
Here’s what the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists wrote about the Doomsday Clock in January 2019.
Humanity now faces two simultaneous existential threats, either of which would be cause for extreme concern and immediate attention. These major threats—nuclear weapons and climate change—were exacerbated this past year by the increased use of information warfare to undermine democracy around the world, amplifying risk from these and other threats and putting the future of civilization in extraordinary danger.
There is nothing normal about the complex and frightening reality just described.
This is the Epilogue of Audit of Humankind, the 3rd book in The Explanation series, following Inventory of the Universe and Audit of the Universe. The purpose of these three books is simple. To give you a complete worldview. They are a survey of WHAT the Universe and Life are, coupled with a State of the Planet and Humankind.
Throughout this work, I’ve used one major analogy, a JIGSAW PUZZLE. We’ve turned all the pieces right side up. This worldview includes the physical and human aspects of the Universe in Inventory of the Universe. In the two Audit books, we investigated the state of these pieces of the puzzle. The goal was to establish how we are managing planet Earth with its resources and humankind with our bodies, brains, and minds. How are we doing?
To our knowledge, we humans have the highest intelligence in the Universe, certainly on Earth. The Explanation has laid out WHO we are with our MINDS (chapter 3). our singularities (chap. 4), HOW we function (chap. 5), socialize (chap. 6), and rule (chap. 7). I’ve devoted a fair bit of space on HOW humans REASON (chap 8), based on observation, philosophy, science, and religion because that is the sum of our knowledge and wisdom. There’s a lot of know-how in these disciplines but, it is fragmented and there is no consensus even within each field, let alone in all four fields. There is no direct path for establishing a lasting peace on planet Earth.
Science knows and says it cannot delve into the why, only the how. On a human level, philosophy tries to occupy the why gap, but, as I’ve pointed out, can only go as far as the human brain and imagination can take it, which is limited to human reasoning. While religion, which is supposed to go above and beyond, into the spiritual realm has lost its way and focused on doctrine and tradition.
Where are the answers, solutions?
Government, science, philosophy, religion, the mainstays of our civilization, are talking the talk, but not walking the walk. Something appears to be sadly out of step. As the pilot said, I have good and bad news for you, “we’re cruising along at top speed, but we don’t know where we’re headed.”
While we grasp for straws, try to inflate a lifebelt around Earth to save it from going under, I’ve presented the Coherent Completeness. It must include science and religion and is used as the thread to tie all the intermingled, seemingly unrelated items (material, immaterial, spiritual, concepts, emotions) together. When the idea came to write this work, the question was “how should I approach it?”. How to deal with delicate subjects that can easily turn readers off. People with strong or definite scientific, philosophical, religious, or political points of view don’t like to have it insinuated that they could be wide of the mark.
Very quickly, I adopted the Coherent Completeness formula as the format for the presentation. People are curious, they are searching and hunting for answers. They are hungry for understanding, not just knowledge, and tidbit news-bites. They want the overall picture to see how events fit together; they want to make sense out of their surroundings and their life. They want to assemble the puzzle pieces perfectly. World Peace and not World Pieces.
That’s the presumptuous position this book has sought to fulfill.
When you’re on a trip at top speed, know your destination, have the stages of your travel planned and the major details are taken care of, you can sit back, take a deep breath of fresh air, and feel relatively confident. That’s what the desire of this author has been. To give you an overall picture with the stepping stones to a predictable satisfying end result. To bring into focus the unrelated tidbits and give you a certain hope and peace of mind, in spite of the stress and sad stories we hear daily.
The next four books, which are online, Origin of the Universe, Origin of Humankind, Origin of Woman, and Agony of Humankind & the Antidote continue to develop Coherent Completeness. I enlighten you about some long sought after ideas and answers to solve some of the conundrums and questions that were unsolved and were possibly the cause of anxiety and inquietude. They will help you straighten out the confusion and let you see some light, ushering in a calmer and more peaceable mind. A stable comprehending mind is a life-giver.
